Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), Owerri, hereby announces vacancies for the positions of Registrar, Bursar, and University Librarian. In compliance with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1993, the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amended) Act, 2003, and the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amended) Act, 2012, the University invites applications from qualified candidates.

University Profile:

Established in April 1963 as the Advanced Teachers Training College under the auspices of the former Eastern Nigeria Government, with technical assistance from UNESCO, the institution was founded to address the critical need for qualified teachers as outlined in the Ashby Commission’s report on Higher Education in Nigeria. In 1973, the institution was renamed Alvan Ikoku College of Education, honoring the distinguished educationist and former President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr. Alvan Ikoku. Over the subsequent decades, the institution expanded its academic offerings, awarding the National Certificate in Education (NCE), the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), and, through affiliation with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree.

In 2023, the Federal Government of Nigeria conferred University status upon the institution, transforming it into Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education. This upgrade reflects the institution’s pivotal role in research, pedagogy, and the training of educators for intermediate and higher education sectors. With a legacy spanning over six decades, the University has made substantial contributions to the development of quality teachers in Nigeria.
