Brief History of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education (CEE)

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Education (CEE) was established in 2012 with Dr. R.E Onuoha as the pioneer Director. He was succeeded by Dr (Mrs.) Stella N. Lemchi in November, 2015. The Director of the Centre is directly responsible to the Provost for the day to day operation and administration of the Centre. In February 2018, the Provost and Management set up an Entrepreneurship Committee to assist in the decision making and development of strategic directions for the effectiveness and growth of the Centre, and the Director of Entrepreneurship Centre is the secretary to the Committee.

The Centre envisions a modern Centre of excellence in entrepreneurial skills acquisition, whose products will set the pace in creativity, entrepreneurship/job creation and subsequently promote self-reliance and sustainable economy.

              Mission of the Centre

The Mission of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education, (CEE) is to promote and nurture the development of entrepreneurial spirit and thus sound entrepreneurs, through training, innovativeness for self-reliance and sustainable economic development.

        Core Mandate of the Centre

  • The main aim of establishing the Centre is to equip our undergraduates with entrepreneurial values, attitudes and the mental capacity for creative thinking and innovative behavior that can provoke the interest in self- employment ventures and job creation needed to reduce the present alarming rate of unemployment in the country, and its attendant social ills. Other responsibilities of the Centre include:
  • The Centre is responsible for providing practical skills training for undergraduates that offer the compulsory GS Entrepreneurship Courses (CED 342 & GS 224).
  • The entire practicals are held in the 2nd semester in the Centre and other training points weekly and at regular fixed times. We have Log-Book for all students taking part in the entrepreneurship skills training, to enable them follow the process progressively to the end.
  • The training is a compulsory part of the assessment for the General Studies, GS Entrepreneurship courses with an allocation of 30marks such that any student that did not participate in the practical sessions will not be considered eligible to write the theory examination.
  • At the end of the Semester long training, the resource persons will submit the assessment score of each student to the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Education, CEE, the scores will be forwarded to the Entrepreneurship Department in the school of General Studies which will be added to the theory Exam scores in the computation of student’s final grade for the Entrepreneurship Courses (CED324 & GS224
  • To promote and nurture the development of entrepreneurial spirit and thus sound entrepreneurs, through training, innovativeness for self-reliance and sustainable economic development.
  • High standards and performance of the directorate in line with global best practices which shall be evident on the boosting of the IGR base of the College
