Academic Collaboration & Linkages

Prof. MBO Ajileye currently serves as Director of DACOLL since 2022. He is a consummate academic with an interest in Linguistics, Discourse and Early-Grade Reading. He is an experienced administrator who has served several times as Head of Department, Dean of School and Director of Academic Planning, he has also served as a Consultant to USAID/Creative Associates in the development of Curriculum for Early-Grade Reading materials in Nigeria.

The Directorate was formally established in July 2014 but began operations in January 2015 at its appointed offices at the Shell Camp section of the University. Deriving from the Vision of the institution, DACOLL foresees a future when it would provide a pivotal platform for the improvement of the academic offering of the College and bring it at par with the best teacher-training institutions worldwide.  In this regard it has a mission to provide opportunities for internationalizing the institution through developing mutually-beneficial partnerships with, and linkages to foreign institutions and domestic agencies by optimizing staff and student exchanges, as well as through cooperative research. The Directorate has been at the forefront of connecting staff and students of the University with viable Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes and courses. A Director and a robust support staff run the Directorate.

Vision

The Directorate of Academic Collaboration and Linkages envisions a future when it will be a pivotal platform for the enhancement of academic offerings of the University through mutually beneficial partnerships with the best teacher-training institutions worldwide.

Mission Statement

DACOLL is poised to provide opportunities for globalization of the University programmes and structures through the establishment of mutually beneficial partnerships with reputable institutions in Nigeria and beyond by optimizing staff and student exchanges, as well as through cooperative research.

Functions

  1. To provide a platform to seek, cultivate, harmonize and administer the institutional and agency linkages;
  2. To develop and sustain mutually beneficial partnerships, affiliation, and linkages with preferred institutions and agencies both within Nigeria and beyond;
  3. To institute international exposure and experience for staff and students;
  4. To serve as an initiative to accelerate educational outreach of the institution based on specified and clear MOUs and agreements;
  5. To coordinate the activities and mandates of the University Bookshop and the nascent Alvan Press as essential establishment organs of the University.
